My Dream, My Future

Choosing a future career is one of the most important decisions a person can make. Since I was young, I have dreamed of becoming a general surgeon because of the courage and responsibility it requires. A general surgeon works directly to save lives through operations, making quick and precise decisions during critical moments. The idea of helping patients survive life-threatening situations inspires me to push myself beyond my limits.

However, as I learned more about medicine, another field caught my attention: neurology. Neurologists specialize in the brain and nervous system, which control every movement, thought, and feeling in the human body. Studying how the brain works feels fascinating because it is one of the most complex organs in existence. This makes me wonder if becoming a neurologist might also be the right path for me.

Both careers have something meaningful to offer. General surgeons face intense, real-time situations in the operating room, where one careful action can save a patient’s life. On the other hand, neurologists focus on diagnosing and treating disorders such as epilepsy, stroke, and brain injuries. They help patients understand and manage conditions that affect how they think, move, and live their daily lives.

Even though my mind is still deciding between these two paths, my main goal remains the same: to serve people through medicine. Whether I become a general surgeon or a neurologist, I want to dedicate my life to helping others and making a difference in their lives. My dream is not only about having a career, but also about becoming someone who can bring hope and healing to patients.

Vigan's Longganisa and St. Pauls Conversion Celebration

 Vigan City Longganisa Festival is celebrated every 25th of January, during the feast day of St. Paul the Apostle. Before he converted, he was formerly Saul, who persecuted Christians until hearing the call of the Lord. During this celebration, there are many events that would occur around Vigan, like the street dancing competition and several bands like Parokya ni Edgar and Dionela performing in Plaza Burgos this year. It is very important to participate in celebrations like these to understand their significance and the joy of celebrating one of the most venerable events in Christianity! Tara na gois!

There were many fun activities the week before Sunday, which was the Longganisa Festival. I happened to come across the competition near the dancing fountain, so I decided to be an audience member and enjoy the choreography of each group as they danced one by one. The music was upbeat, I enjoyed listening, and the shocking composition of the rhythm of each group made my heart pound to the chest. Hearing the dancers shout "Hey!" "Viva san Pablo Longganisa Festival!" inspired me. Maybe I can also become a dancer.

After the performance, the host told the audience that the performers were going to walk around Vigan until the Heritage, where they would dance again. After the competition, I went there to watch another round, and to be honest, it still captivated me to come watch the dancers perform their unique and lively choreographies. Maybe I really wanna be a dancer one day.

During the last day before Sunday, there was a fun run held in St. Paul. My family and I decided to participate, since my little sister studies there, like I did back when I was still in grade school. We just walked for 1km until the intersection near St. Paul, then went back, because we only registered for 1km. 1km. 

My Reflection

 During the Third Quarter, I learned more about the different national and global events that happened in 2025, which helped me understand how real-life events connect to our lessons. In ICT 10, I continued learning about HTML, including how it works as the basic structure of websites. These lessons helped me realize that technology is not just about using devices, but also about understanding how digital content is created and organized.

One of the challenges I encountered was understanding some HTML codes and remembering their correct functions. At times, it was also difficult to keep up with activities while balancing other school requirements. There were moments when I felt confused or unsure if I was doing the tasks correctly.

I addressed these challenges by reviewing my notes, asking questions when needed, and practicing the codes repeatedly. I also searched for simple examples online and tried to apply them on my own, which helped me understand the lessons better. Managing my time properly allowed me to finish tasks without rushing.

Moving on, I will continue to improve my skills in ICT by practicing more and staying curious about technology. I will also try to be more confident in asking questions and participating in class discussions. By doing this, I hope to gain more knowledge and become more prepared for future ICT lessons.

 The celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Month reminds me that Indigenous communities are living keepers of culture, not just figures from history. Their traditions, stories, and way of caring for the land continue to shape who we are as a nation.

The theme “Weaving Culture, Enriching Future” shows how Indigenous knowledge supports sustainable development and teaches respect for nature and community. Government efforts through agencies like the NCIP help protect their rights, culture, and ancestral lands, giving them space to grow without losing their identity.

This celebration is a reminder that honoring Indigenous Peoples should go beyond ceremonies and hashtags. True empowerment means listening to their voices, defending their rights, and valuing their culture every single day.

2025 National Children’s Month Celebration – My Insight

This year’s 33rd National Children’s Month in the Philippines was marked with the powerful theme “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”—a call for the nation to end Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) while defending children’s safety and rights in both digital and physical spaces. National and local government agencies, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), and the National Youth Commission (NYC), highlighted the issue as a serious national concern that requires collaborative action. I believe the government’s efforts reflect a growing awareness of children’s vulnerability online and an intent to strengthen protective systems. In many regions, activities such as seminars on OSAEC awareness, digital safety orientations, and child-friendly programs were conducted to equip children, parents, and community leaders with tools to recognize and prevent online risks. Agencies like the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) also joined by teaching young users and guardians how to navigate the digital world safely—a recognition that digital literacy is now part of protection. Elpidio Quirino is often remembered as a leader who rose from poverty to the presidency at one of the most difficult times in Philippine history. His story is not merely about political success but also about personal resilience. Through hardship, war, and national rebuilding, Quirino shaped a legacy grounded in service and determination.

Born on November 16, 1890, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Quirino grew up in a modest family that valued education and perseverance. Despite financial struggles, he pursued his studies with dedication, eventually earning a law degree from the University of the Philippines. His early life was filled with challenges that strengthened his character and deepened his desire to help ordinary Filipinos. He first entered politics as a member of the Philippine House of Representatives and later served as a senator, steadily gaining respect for his intelligence and integrity. These early experiences built the foundation of a public servant who understood both hardship and hope.

Quirino’s political career changed dramatically during World War II, when tragedy struck his family and the Philippines suffered massive destruction. Despite his grief and the nation’s suffering, he returned to public service with renewed determination. In 1946, he became vice president, and just two years later, he assumed the presidency after Manuel Roxas’s death. Quirino led the country during a crucial period of post-war recovery, focusing on rebuilding the economy, restoring peace, and strengthening international relations. San Vicente, located in Ilocos Sur, has one of the most unique and spectacular tourist spots/destinations within the locality. It is also known for its rich cultural heritage, along with its history and governors.

Dinosaurs Island was our first tourist spot, in which the tourists can learn about the dinosaurs as well as see the real sizes of each dinosaur in the premises. 

The next tourist spot that we have visited was San Vicente Training & Pasalubong Center. It contains all the “pasalubong” one can receive and share to their friends as a remembrance of their visit in San Vicente.

Lastly, St. Vincent Ferrer Parish Church was the last tourist spot me and my groupmates have visited. The St. Vincent Ferrer Parish Church in San Vicente, Ilocos Sur stands as one of the enduring symbols of faith and tradition in Northern Luzon. Built in the late 18th century, it continues to serve not only as a place of worship but also as a reminder of the deep religious roots of the Ilocano people. Its establishment in 1795 marked the spiritual foundation of the town, giving the community both a sanctuary for prayer and a centerpiece of local heritage.

 The 2025 National Science Month reminds us that science is not only about theories in books but also about how it shapes our daily lives. With the theme “Harnessing the Unknown: Powering the Future through Science and Innovation,” schools across the Philippines celebrate through fun and educational activities. These include science quiz bees, poster and slogan-making contests, investigatory project exhibits, and even jingle or robotics competitions. Such activities bring science closer to students, making it exciting and practical.

These school events also show the connection between science and society. When students create eco-friendly inventions, design posters about renewable energy, or present research on health and environment, they reflect real issues faced by communities. In this way, Science Month becomes more than just contests—it becomes a platform where young Filipinos imagine solutions for the nation’s future. As society continues to face challenges like climate change and technological change, these celebrations train students to think critically and act responsibly.

In the end, Science Month is both a celebration and a call to action. By joining these activities, students learn that science is not only about competition but about collaboration and service to others. Climate Change and Resiliency of Filipinos

 Climate change has become one of the greatest challenges faced by Filipinos today. The country’s unique location makes it prone to typhoons, floods, and heat waves that have worsened through the years. These environmental changes do not only damage property but also affect the health, livelihood, and future of many communities.

The predominant reasons behind the worsening climate conditions include deforestation, pollution, and the excessive use of fossil fuels. Forests that once protected us from floods are now being cleared for urban expansion, while factories and vehicles continuously release harmful gases that trap heat in the atmosphere. These human activities disrupt the natural balance, leading to stronger typhoons, unpredictable rainfall, and extreme droughts. As a result, farmers lose crops, fishermen struggle to catch fish, and families are displaced from their homes. Yet, despite these hardships, Filipinos remain remarkably resilient—rebuilding communities, helping one another, and adapting to change with hope and faith. This strength shows that even in the face of adversity, unity and compassion can overcome great challenges.

Climate change continues to threaten our way of life, but the Filipino spirit remains unbroken. By embracing sustainability and caring for our environment, we can protect not only our land but also the generations to come. Our resiliency gives us the power to heal what has been damaged and build a safer, greener future together.

Quarter 2 Reflection

 During the second quarter, I discovered a lot about myself as a learner. I learned to manage my time better and became more confident when expressing my ideas, especially in class discussions and projects. I also realized that learning goes beyond memorizing lessons—it’s about understanding how those lessons apply in real life. This quarter truly helped me grow not only academically but also personally.

Of course, the journey wasn’t easy. I struggled with balancing schoolwork, deadlines, and personal responsibilities. There were days when I felt tired and unmotivated, especially when tasks piled up. Sometimes I also found certain topics challenging to understand, which made me feel a bit frustrated.

To overcome these challenges, I learned to ask for help when needed and to manage my time more wisely. I started creating a schedule to organize my tasks and give myself breaks in between. I also reviewed lessons ahead of time and used online resources to better understand difficult topics. These small changes made a big difference in keeping me focused and less stressed.

Moving on, I will continue to improve my study habits and maintain a positive attitude toward learning. I want to become more disciplined and consistent so I can do even better in the next quarter. I’ll remind myself that mistakes and struggles are part of growth, and every challenge is an opportunity to become stronger and wiser.

I express my gratitude by listening, participating, and giving my best in class. Small acts—like saying “thank you” or writing a short note—can already show appreciation. Their sacrifices motivate me to study harder and value the lessons they teach, both in school and in life.

here was my experience during intrams. during the first day, we marched to the gym, and i was one of the performers for the intermission number. i was rhythm guitarist, and after, i went to play my first match and won 6-1. the next day, i lost 6-0 to my seniors yet i still had fun. i met some friends from last r1 and we had a great time together.

                             The images depict activities of cleaning up the surroundings and proper waste segregation. Each practice may mean so little, yet it has a great impact on the environment because of our efforts of preserving it for the next generations to come. My First Quarter Challenges and Experiences

                     This first quarter, I learned a great deal about the history and development of the Internet. At first, I thought of the Internet as something we used for social media, research, or entertainment, but through our lessons and reports, I learned about its history, the key figures behind its development, and how it continues to shape our lives.

                        One of the most important things I learned was about the Internet Timeline, which included the dates, events, terms, and people who contributed to its development. I realized that the Internet was the result of years of research and development by scientists and skilled researchers. I also learned new things about Internet access, browsers, web blogs, and search engines, which helped me better understand how information is shared and received today.  I had difficulty remembering the timeline's dates and events, as well as understanding technical terms. Studying the contributions of various people and groups could be confusing at times because there was so much information to process and remember. To overcome these obstacles, I took simple notes and summaries while also paying close attention to group reports. Working collaboratively and sharing ideas helped me understand and comprehend the lessons better.

                         As I move forward, I plan to explore and study the Internet not only as a tool for schoolwork, but also as a significant part of history and modern life. I'll also practice using it responsibly and wisely. The first quarter has helped me lay a solid foundation, and I am ready to apply what I have learned in the following lessons to my daily life.

Dear President Marcos,

I am a concerned student who wishes to express my thoughts on the issues in our educational system. One of the most significant difficulties is the lack of classrooms and infrastructure in public schools. Many pupils have to share seats and study in packed classrooms. This makes it difficult to learn effectively.

Another issue is a scarcity of textbooks and educational materials. Students are often required to share a single book with a large group of classmates. Without the right materials, it is difficult to learn and comprehend our teachings. Teachers also suffer since they lack the necessary materials to adequately teach the concepts.

There are also difficulties with internet access and technology. Many schools still lack computers, and other communities do not have reliable internet access.

Mr. President, I hope the government will devote greater attention and resources to education. Students like me will have a better shot at a brighter future if schools are improved, there are adequate literature, and technology is made available. Education is the key to prosperity, and with your aid, our country will become stronger.

Food and Nutrition Security: Advocating for the Theme of Nutrition Month

                         Nutrition Month is celebrated every July in the Philippines to raise awareness about food and nutrition security. Its purpose is to serve as a reminder for everyone to make healthy choices and to live a healthy life. As a Grade 10 student, I have experienced many wonderful events that happened in July, which makes me want to look back and reminisce about the joyful moments shared with my fellow classmates.

                                During the first week, our class president discussed the people who would like to join a regional contest, wherein they would have to create an original jingle, and dance accordingly to the rhythm, accompanied by cinematographic scenes. My groupmates and I socialized, played around, and, most importantly, enjoyed ourselves, even in the first week. We also went into different parts of Vigan, searching for a scenic location to film in amidst the high humidity. In a van, we travelled to Bicentennial, and there we recorded some major scenes. My classmates danced, and I was part of the technical staff. As we went back to school, we discussed and discussed in the van we were in and rested. During breaks, we would initiate a karaoke, where one sang and one humorously danced. The good times weighed hard, and it helped us construct chemistry with one another, as a family. After the competition, there was an event held within the premises of the school, wherein some sections that decided to participate in the food fest sold some nutritious foods to ingest. 

                                 I enjoyed these moments that happened, especially because I was a part of it too. It helped me realize sooner that life could feel better if it were enjoyed with company. As a Grade 10 student who advocated for this nutrition month, I have taken part in attaining the goal by making these memories, which not only informed people that we publicly support this month's theme, but also made core memories that I will forever store in the back of my mind.

My Growth

My Growth

 

Growing up to become who I am today makes me feel like a duck waddling in steady water. Like a small duck paddling its way to its destination, I feel the same way, but walking and going through numerous phases in life.

 

As a kindergartener back then, I was quiet most of the time in class but sometimes playful. Whenever my classmates initiated a play with their friends, I would try to involve myself so I could get to know them better. It was hard for me to make friends because I was not much of a talkative person.

During my elementary days, I was practically the same except that my confidence grew. I was fonder with classmates and teachers, and they would try to call me whenever they were playing. I was also not the type to bully because I was still a little scared to talk to my classmates. I was just the type of child to listen in class and go home immediately to rest.

Until now, I feel that I have not changed a bit. I am still the same me, just more mature and experienced because of the obstacles I have faced and learned from. Now, I am eager to learn and be better of standing up, not for myself, but for others too.
